PURPOSE

This site is dedicated to keeping our Flagstaff neighborhood beautiful and property values up by preventing our neighborhood from being overrun by commercial enterprises that rob us of the surrounding beauty.

BACKGROUND

The owner of the Katlon RV & Boat Storage facility, located at 5700 East Old Walnut Canyon Road, bought several acres of land east of and immediately adjacent to his existing facility.  The owner has started the process of having the land rezoned from residential to commercial so that he can expand his facility, affectively doubling it in size.

NEIGHBORHOOD IMPACT

It is belief of many of the residents in close proximity of the existing RV storage lot that the expansion of the existing storage lot would have a negative impact on the surrounding properties.  The following is a list of the negative impacts that would certainly result if the RV storage is expanded:

  • Property values would drop dramatically
  • Noise would increase in the area
  • Traffic would increase in the area
  • The beauty of the area would be lost forever

The concern to most residents is the probable drop in property values.  This drop in value would directly affect many people who have owned their property for many years and currently enjoy a beautiful view from their windows and balconies.  Not only would property values drop, but it will probably be more difficult to sell their properties in the future due to the fact that the potential buyer would not be interested in purchasing a property whose view includes a sea of RVs.  But the most disheartening reality is that the natural beauty of the area will be forever lost, only to be replaced by a sea of white metal RVs.
